Adam Sandler Honored with Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at Kennedy Center
Adam Sandler, the well-known actor and comedian, received the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humour, becoming the 24th recipient of the award.
Sandler, who usually wears his trademark shorts and T-shirt, surprised everyone by dressing up in business attire for the event. He expressed surprise at receiving the honor and joked about his suit not fitting him properly.
Comedian Dana Carvey praised Sandler’s longevity, and his mother and wife, along with his friends and acting partners, gently ribbed him on stage.
The event also featured political humor, with some presenters touching on topics like President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and potential criminal charges against the latter.
The Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humour has been previously awarded to several other famous comedians, including Jon Stewart, Dave Chappelle, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Letterman, Carol Burnett, Eddie Murphy, and Ellen DeGeneres.
The show will air on CNN on March 26th.
